Initial Topic Idea

The topic that I want to write about is anxiety and depression among college students. I want to determine the causes of it, effective ways to treat it, or even ways to prevent it. More recently, COVID-19 has greatly impacted colleges; has its effects such as remote learning benefitted or worsened students' mental health? I think that this topic is important to research due to the fact that anxiety and depression affect most college students. The statistics are quite alarming, as shown below, 85% of students feel overwhelmed by everything in college.

  This graph shows the percentage of college students who have experienced mental health issues pre-covid-19 and during covid-19. As the data shows, about 36% of students experienced depression in college before Covid, and it increased about 5% during Covid. The percentage of people who experienced anxiety stayed the same pre-Covid and during Covid. This shows how people suffering from mental health issues were already high, and Covid made it worse.
